For many families, the best path forward is one that works with the brain’s natural strengths.
If you are looking for natural ways to master the ADHD brain in the Wellington region, the Davis Mastery for Attention programme offers a specialized, educational alternative.
We don’t view the ADHD brain as a "deficit." Instead, we see it as a high-speed, creative engine that needs the right internal navigation tools to stay on track.
The Davis Method: Mastering Self-Regulation Naturally
At our Waikanae studio, we empower learners to move beyond "coping" and into true focus.
Our ADHD support for children, teens and adults focuses on the root causes of distraction by
building strong cognitive foundations.
🔸Self-Directed Tools: We teach mental "switches" that allow the learner to regulate their own focus and energy.
🔸Mastering Life Concepts: We use clay to create physical models of abstract concepts like Consequence, Time, Sequence, and Order — giving the 3D-thinking brain a concrete understanding of how the world works.
🔸Empowerment through Mastery: Instead of suppressing energy, we provide the cognitive tools to harness it, allowing focus to be "turned on" when it matters most.
The Davis Mastery for Attention programme is designed for adults, teens and children (ages 8+) who want to improve:
🔸Active Listening: Following instructions and staying present in conversations.
🔸Executive Function: Organising actions, possessions, and long-term projects.
🔸Social Mechanics: Maintaining positive relationships through better self-awareness.
🔸Internal Calm: Managing the "fidgeting" or restlessness that comes from sensory overwhelm.
🔸Emotional Regulation: Managing sensory overwhelm and "zoning out."
We empower the learner with three core cognitive tools to manage the root causes of their challenges:
Focus
Ensures accurate perception and the ability to "switch on" attention at will.
Release
Allows a person to manage internal tension, putting themselves into a calm, receptive space.
Dial
Enables the learner to adjust their energy levels to match the activity—whether it’s high energy for sports or "quiet focus" for a classroom or meeting.

Many focus challenges stem from "conceptual gaps" in concepts like Time, Sequence, Order or Consequence.
Using clay modelling, conversation and real-world exploration, we bridge these gaps.
By creating physical models of seven life concepts, the learner gains a deep, intuitive understanding that they can apply to their own life experiences immediately.
Initial Consultation: A no-obligation session to ensure a perfect fit.
36-42 Hour Intensive: A tailored, one-to-one experience over 6-7 days.
Support Training: Empowering a family member or tutor to maintain momentum at home.
Follow-up Support: Unlimited phone/email support and three review sessions.
The Mastery Kit: All materials required for your continued follow-up work.
No. Our programme is purely educational and cognitive. We do not diagnose ADHD or prescribe medication. Instead, we focus on providing the learner with a "mental toolkit" to manage their own focus and energy levels naturally. We view the ADHD brain not as a deficit, but as a unique way of processing the world that simply requires the right internal navigation tools.
Standard tutoring often focuses on repetition, drills, and "coping" with schoolwork. At Master Dyslexia, we address the root cause of distraction. Instead of just helping a student finish a worksheet, we teach them how to recognize when they are "disoriented" and how to mentally switch their focus back on. We build the foundational life concepts—like Time, Sequence, and Order—that traditional tutoring often skims over.
Absolutely. Many adults in the Wellington region come to me after years of feeling "scattered" or overwhelmed in the workplace. Because the Davis tools are based on self-regulation and logic, they are incredibly effective for adults who want to improve their executive function, time management, and mental clarity without clinical intervention.
The Davis tools are designed to give the learner conscious control over their focus. For these tools to be most effective, the learner needs to be able to "feel" their own natural energy levels. While some clients use our tools alongside medication, many families choose the Davis programme as a natural alternative or as a way to eventually reduce reliance on medication (always in consultation with their GP).
Because this is an intensive, one-to-one programme, most families notice a shift in self-awareness and focus by the end of the first week. However, "Mastery" is a journey. The 7-day intensive provides the tools, and the follow-up work at home ensures those tools become a permanent, natural part of the student's daily life.
I learned so much as a parent...The concepts and tools that we’ve learned have been illuminating,
and I have found myself referring to them in my own life too.

A Personal Note: Why I do what I do
I don’t just facilitate these tools; I live them.
As someone with an ADHD brain, I spent years navigating a 'fog' of distraction and the
constant stress of overwhelm.
Discovering the Davis tools wasn't just helpful—it was transformational.
For the first time, I felt I had a steering wheel for my own mind.
That sense of clarity changed my life, and it’s why I’m so passionate about what I do.
At Master Dyslexia, my mission is to help you or your child or teen shift away from the frustration of
focus challenges and toward the incredible creative talents that live on the other side.
Let’s work together to take the 'mystery' out of focus and put the controls back in your hands.
